Positive Attitude for a Positive Life

What is a positive attitude?

We keep hearing from people to be positive, keep smiling, be happy and similar phrases. But the universal truth is that these things are easier said than done.
The simplest definition is one’s approach towards their surroundings. Surroundings consist of people, things, experiences, thoughts, and feelings.
Having a positive attitude means having an optimistic approach towards life. Good things will happen to them. On the other hand, a negative attitude indicates that one expects awful things to happen and struggles to perceive the world positively.

A deeper dive into positive attitude:

Having a positive attitude has a much deeper meaning attached to it. Our attitude has an impact on our character. When we have a positive attitude, we subconsciously think about solutions rather than problems. We are optimistic about the ambiguities that arise in our day-to-day life.
We remain much more confident and keep calm during stressful situations. Having a positive attitude in life is a non-negotiable aspect to attain happiness and success in our life.

How to build a positive attitude?

Remember that YOU control your attitude:
Attitude does not arise from what happens to you but from how you perceive it. “Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.” Be positive and appreciate the good things around you.
Different people have different perspectives. We need to be mindful that what or how others think should not affect our thinking. If we do not agree to different viewpoints, we can agree to disagree.
If we allow our surroundings to affect us, it makes us incapable of being independent in the true sense. Take charge of your attitude.

  • Adopt beliefs that positively frame events:

Your beliefs about life and work determine how you interpret events. Nurture thoughts that create a good atmosphere for your mind rather than those that lead to poor thinking.
Life is unpredictable. If someone says they can predict life, either they are lying, or they are GOD.
All we hope for is the higher probability of them being profitable for us. So it is necessary to take whatever positively comes in our way.

  • Avoid toxic people:

The world is full of hateful people. Such people result in a flood of negativity. It does not just destroy our ability to maintain a positive attitude; it actively inserts us into a state of misery.
Toxic people are all around us. They keep gossiping, whining, and complaining about everything and have no set goals. All they crave is attention, pride, and instant gratification.
We need to maintain mental barriers around us to keep this toxicity away and enjoy our positive well-being.

  • Use a more positive vocabulary:

The words we speak are not just a reflection of what is in our brain – they program your brain how to think. When we talk positively, we attract more positivity.
Stop using negative phrases such as “I can’t,” “It’s impossible,” or “This won’t work.” These statements program you for negative results.
Whenever anyone asks “How are you?” respond with “Fantastic!” or “On top of the world!”

  • Be thankful:

These are the virtues that keep one grounded and focused. Take some time and be thankful. Be grateful for what you have, who you are, and what your life is.
Life may seem hard at the time, but there are plenty of things to be thankful for. You need to recognize and appreciate them.
Being conscious of what you are thankful for will help you maintain your positive attitude.

  • Surround yourself with positive people:

The people around us have a tremendous impact on our personalities and mindset. We are the average of the five people we spend most of our time with.
They impact who we are, how much money we will make, and what we value. They also affect how we think.
Surround yourself with positive people, and you will be more positive.

  • Smile More:

Even a forced smile can elevate the mood! We may also share positivity with others by flashing them with a brilliant smile. Smiling is a reward, not a risk.
When we smile, we enhance our happiness. When we smile, we spread joy into the world. So keep smiling and make this world happier.

  • Understand that we all deserve time to recharge:

Life is tough, and we may face failures and setbacks at different stages and phases in our life. It must not stop oneself from being happy.
Take a short trip somewhere. Trekking, traveling, exploring nature and different places are the most common and effective recreation methods. Tuning with nature is the best available tonic!

Conclusion:

“A positive attitude may not solve all our problems, but that is the only option we have if we want to get out of problems.” – Subodh Gupta
